Can the BOSS Katana Artist GEN 3 get close to the sound and feel of a classic Fender Twin Reverb?
That’s exactly what I wanted to find out.
For this video, I took my BOSS Katana Artist GEN 3 and built a tone from scratch with one very specific goal: to capture the character of a Fender Twin Reverb.
The Twin Reverb is one of those legendary clean guitar sounds — big, clear, dynamic and with plenty of headroom. Rather than simply creating another clean Katana patch, I wanted to see how close I could get to that familiar Fender-style response using the Artist GEN 3.
Building the Tone
This was all about listening and matching the character of the amp as closely as possible.
The Katana Artist GEN 3 gives us a huge amount of control over the basic amp tone, EQ and effects, so the challenge was finding the right combination of settings to recreate that big American clean sound while still keeping the dynamics and feel under the fingers.
And I have to say… the result surprised me!
Of course, a Katana Artist GEN 3 and a real Fender Twin Reverb are two very different amplifiers. The point isn’t to claim that they’re suddenly the same amp — it’s to see just how far we can push the Katana and what can be achieved with some careful tone shaping.

This is also the first amp in this series. I’ll be taking the same approach with more classic amplifier tones and seeing how close I can get using the BOSS Katana Artist GEN 3.
